As humans, we have both great and bad days. We can’t always be happy. But what matters how we cope with days when it feels like the world is falling apart.
To begin with, I heard advice from all corners - write down your thoughts and experiences. Sure enough, I didn't do it. At one point in my life, I came across a book that made me start. The book is called “One habit a week.” The concept is simple: every week - you implement a new habit for 7 days.
As you might have guessed. One week, when I opened the chapter, I saw the title - Journaling.
That's how it all started, I've been writing down for 3 years now. I found my formula, that's what saves me on those sad days when everything piles up and I just want to hide from the world. Or on good days, when I’m so so happy and want to leave a trace of that feeling on paper.
Here is my secret formula:
Quite place + coffee + journaling
I want to say right away that we are all different, what works for me may not work for you. The key is to try, to search, to listen to yourself and your feelings. And most importantly—just give it a shot. “If you don’t try, you won’t know.”
My experience
- When I write on paper, new thoughts and ideas come to me more easily than when I just mull them over in my head.
- You can do it in a notebook, on a notepad, on a napkin, or even a scrap of paper. Just get started—what matters is that it works for you.
- Don't give up after the first try, try doing it for 7 days at least
- If you think you have nothing to write about, write about what you see around you, what you hear, what you feel. What surprised you? What made you happy? What upset you? The whole world is around you.
- And lastly, put this article aside and just try it!
Good luck 🩵
Thanks for sharing your formula~ mine is writing right after waking up, before anything external could cloud my thoughts.
